Cyclist Injured After Hit and Run in Central Fresno
A cyclist was injured after a hit and run in central Fresno, CA, on the early morning of May 13, 2020. The bicycle accident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the area of Sussex Way and Effie Way. Authorities had attempted to stop a driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). During the pursuit, the Chevrolet driver allegedly took the corner of the intersection too fast and struck a cyclist and a parked vehicle. Police said the motorist tried to enter an apartment complex but ended up striking an apartment building in the process. The collision reportedly left a hole in the wall of the building. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as a teenager, is facing hit and run and DUI charge, officials said. The injured cyclist was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.
