Davis August 2017 Events
Finish off the summer right with fun events and activities that are available locally for you, family, and friends. One of my favorites is the Davis Farmers’ Market. Here you can get locally grown fruits and vegetables and hang out with your folks from your community on a lovely Saturday morning. See you at Central Park!
Saturday, Aug 5 Events:
Where: Central Park, 405 C Street, Davis CA
When: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Local farmers and business owners will gather together in Central Park to show off their crops and products. There will be produce, baked goods, food trucks, and more.

Where: Wastewater Treatment Plant, Road 28H, 1 mile east from the Yolo County Landfill
When: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
This two-hour tour will take you through the wetlands as guides will explain how the landscape cleans wastewater and is also home to many species of birds, amphibians, and insects. The tour will travel along gravel roads that wind through the more than 400-acre wildlife habitat.
Nail Art and Duct Tape Crafts
Where: Yolo County Library, 315 E 14th Street, Davis CA
When: 1:00 pm
You have a choice between two seminar/workshops. Come paint your nails and learn all the fancy tricks and techniques to make beautiful designs or check out all the things you can make with duct tape. Wallets, bookmarks, and other cool items can be made all with the versatile, silver tape.
The Odyssey
Where: Richard Brunelle Performance Hall, 315 W. 14th Street, Davis CA
When: 7:00 p.m.
Follow Odysseus as he makes the 10-year journey home to his kingdom in Greece after the war with Troy that lasted ten years. His wife and son think he is dead and has trouble dealing with suitors seeking marriage and the throne. Odysseus is at odds with Poseidon, the god of the sea who makes his journey home full of troubles and captivity. This classic tale is recreated the Acme Theatre Company. Get your tickets here.
Sunday, August 6 Events:
CA Kids Triathlon
Where: Arroyo Park, 2000 Shasta Drive, Davis CA
When: 8:00 a.m.
Children ages 3 to 15 are invited to come have fun in a structured, non-competitive event that will get them out and moving. Distances are separated into age-appropriate categories with categories that allow parents to participate together with their child. This is a great chance to expose your children to the fun of exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga on the Green
Where: Davis Commons, 500 1st Street, Davis CA
When: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Soak up the sun as you stretch and strengthen your body out on the grass. Breathe deeply and find your inner strength as you practice yoga with professional instructors from FIT House. Yoga can help you start your week right.
International Folk Dancing
Where: Davis Arts Center, 1919 F Street, Davis CA
When: 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Every Sunday evening come learn dances from all over the world from great instructors. 7 dollars at the door but the first time is free. This is a great opportunity for anyone to learn something new, be active, and celebrate other cultures from around the world.
