Davis Fatal Big Rig Accident
Hi I’m Ed Smith, a Davis personal injury attorney. A big rig driver was involved in a fatal accident after crashing off the Eastbound I-80 nearby Davis, California.
What Happened?
The accident occurred approximately at 5:00 am where a driver of a big rig had driven off of the Eastbound I-80 freeway and drove into an oak tree. The accident occurred off of Eastbound I-80 close to the Richards Boulevard exit in Davis.
California Highway Patrol Reports
California Highway Patrol responded to the accident at approximately 5:30 am on Thursday, July 7. The big rig driver was driving at an estimated 65 miles per hour when the truck drove off the freeway and hit a large oak tree. The big rig was nearly submerged underneath the oak tree it had collided with. The accident also created slight collateral damage by causing the crashed tree to fall onto some cars parked in a nearby hotel parking lot.
Further Investigation Reports
According to authorities, the driver of the big rig was identified as a 55-year-old West Sacramento local. The Yolo County Coroner’s Office has not identified the driver of the big rig. The driver of the big rig was declared deceased at the scene. Authorities have to remove the tree in order to access the big rig for further investigation and are unsure what caused the big rig to crash off of the freeway.
