One Killed in Collision Near Lake Berryessa
On Sunday, March 21, 2021, one person sustained fatal trauma, and two more were injured during a vehicle collision near Lake Berryessa. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision took place in the early evening at a rural highway location and involved a passenger vehicle as well as a motorcycle. Napa County authorities are currently withholding the decedent’s name and information, and the incident is under CHP investigation.
Crash Information
CHP traffic reports indicate that this collision took place at around 5:26 p.m. on Highway 128 to the north of the Wragg Canyon Road intersection just around a mile away from the southernmost edge of Lake Berryessa. Details regarding the events that preceded the accident have not yet been reported by officials.
The crash was reported to CHP shortly after it happened, and response teams were immediately sent to the scene. At the location, responders discovered that three people had suffered injuries. Sadly, the motorcycle driver was determined to have sustained critical trauma and lost his life on-site. A passenger on the motorcycle, as well as the driver of the car, reportedly suffered minor injuries. Whether or not they were transported to the hospital for care has not yet been reported.
Investigation
Following the crash, police instituted one-way traffic control on Highway 128 until at least 7:00 p.m. while emergency responders worked and while officers conducted initial investigations of evidence at the scene. However, at this point, investigating officials haven’t reported any factors that they believe could have contributed to the crash. Furthermore, collisions involving more than a single vehicle may also involve numerous causes and may have been caused by things outside of motorist control.
Private Investigations Are Critical
After collisions that involve fatally injured motorists, it can be a difficult challenge for police to gain a full understanding of all of the factors that were involved. Sadly, this can mean that investigating officers won’t ever uncover important evidence that could help families obtain compensation for their economic and personal losses.
To ensure accidents receive full, fair investigations, it’s critical that families reach out for help from a Napa wrongful death lawyer. An experienced attorney will know how to launch a private accident investigation in order to ensure all at-fault parties are held financially responsible.
