Deadly Fairfield Multi-Vehicle Crash
According to officials from California Highway Patrol (CHP), a fatal car accident occurred in Fairfield on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. The accident involved a total of five vehicles and took place on a highway area within Fairfield city limits. Reports indicated that one person sadly suffered fatal injuries during the collision. Authorities of Solano County have not yet released the identity of the fatally injured individual. Additionally, police stated that four other people suffered injuries during the accident. I’d like to express my sympathy to those who’ve lost someone they love because of this incident.
Crash Information
The accident took place on the eastbound side of Highway 12 at the Beck Avenue intersection at about 3:00 p.m. A Volkswagen was stopped at the intersection when an eastbound van approached it from behind. The van rear-ended the Volkswagen, sending it into traffic in the intersection and causing a chain-reaction collision. Further details about the circumstances of the accident have not been provided by responders.
Injuries
Emergency officials at the scene of the crash found the Volkswagen driver with critical trauma. Despite best efforts from medical personnel, the motorist tragically lost their life before they could be taken to a hospital. Two other individuals were found with serious injuries and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment. Another two individuals were treated at the accident scene for minor trauma before being released.
Investigation
CHP says that they are investigating this accident and trying to understand what factors caused it to happen. So far, investigators have not mentioned any suspected causes of the collision. Vehicle accidents such as this one can be caused by a variety of factors that commonly include driving under the influence, speeding, auto part defects, medical issues, and more.
Other Area Collisions
This collision took place less than two weeks after another fatal accident at the same location. This crash happened on April 28, 2019, and left one person with fatal injuries. Both the April 28 and May 8 accidents were preceded by a third crash on February 19, 2019, which also took place at the intersection of Beck Avenue and Highway 12. The February 19 crash left one person with fatal injuries and severely injured two others.
