Orangevale Resident Dies in Single-Vehicle Collision
A fatal accident was reported in Folsom recently when a vehicle exited the roadway and went down an embankment. The fatal collision was announced by the Folsom Police Department, who think the accident happened during the nighttime hours on Greenback Lane’s Rainbow Bridge. A call was placed by someone walking along the bike trail to the police about the traffic accident around 9:15 a.m. on the morning of March 17. The deceased driver was identified as Megan Leanne Ramirez, a 28-year-old Orangevale resident.
Rainbow Bridge Closed to Traffic Due to Fatal Accident Investigation
The bridge was shut down in both directions as investigators determined how the crash occurred and recovered the vehicle and remains of the deceased. Motorists were asked to locate alternate routes to get to their destinations and stay away from the area as the work was conducted. Police reported that there didn’t appear to be any witnesses to the fatal accident, and the pedestrian who called it in did not see it when it happened.
When a Fatal Accident Happens
When a loved one dies suddenly in a traffic accident, it leaves many questions for the grieving family, the major one being how did it happen. Although driver error is the most common reason for a fatal accident, it isn’t the only way it could have occurred. An outside influence at times causes someone in a vehicle to have an accident. By conducting an investigation, it may be determined how the accident fatality actually occurred. Following are some of the ways a collision can happen that isn’t the fault of the driver:
- A hit-and-run driver: It is possible for a hit-and-run driver to strike another automobile and then flee the scene, which can lead to a fatality. By using witness accounts, local surveillance cameras, paint smears and road damage, it can be determined if another motorist was present and caused the collision. Then the search goes on to locate that motorist and vehicle, so the driver can be held responsible. Over the years, our legal team and investigators at AutoAccident.com have located a number of these fleeing drivers.
- Poor road maintenance: A roadway that has potholes, upheavals or fissures in the pavement, poor lighting and other problems can cause a single vehicle to leave the roadway when the driver loses control. An investigation can also turn up whether government neglect caused the fatal accident. A claim can be placed against the government entity in these cases to recover compensation. However, the timeline to file is considerably shorter, and having the help of an injury lawyer can be a good idea. The injured party (family) has six months to file the claim. The government entity must respond within 45 days. If they do not respond, the injured party has two years to file their lawsuit. If the government entity responds and rejects the claim, they have six additional months to file the lawsuit.
- Auto defects: When a vehicle has defective brakes, tires or accelerator, it can lead to a deadly accident. The manufacturer and others in the production line may be held responsible. Your injury lawyer can help you file an auto product liability claim to recover damages.
