Drunk Driver Forgot Something

I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove personal injury lawyer. A man was arrested for hit and run and driving under the influence in Elk Grove on Saturday, April 2, 2012. The way the man was apprehended was priceless. The man’s license plate had fallen off his car at the scene of the collision.

What Happened?

A crash happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Elk Grove Boulevard and Bruceville Road in the Laguna area of Elk Grove.

Officers from Elk Grove Police Department arrested Chauncey Pennell, 40,  of Elk Grove after he allegedly crashed into a vehicle, injuring its occupants, and fleeing the scene without rendering assistance to the injured or helping them in any way.

Were the Occupants Seriously Injured?

The occupants had to be hospitalized as a result of the injuries they sustained in the hit-and-run collision.

Was Pennell  arrested for Driving Under the Influence?

Yes. Pennell was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run charges.

Elk Grove Police Department spokesperson Christopher Trim reported that officers located Pennell after finding his license plate at the scene of the crash. Shortly thereafter, they went to his house where they reportedly noticed his damaged vehicle parked outside. He was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
