Drunk Driver Hits Two Elk Grove Bicyclists
I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove bicycle accident attorney. Two bicyclists are thankful to be alive after being hit by a suspected drunk driver in Elk Grove on June 14, 2016.
What Happened?
A collision took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Elk Grove Police Department officials said they responded to Franklin Boulevard and Blossom Ridge Drive and discovered that two bicyclists had been struck by a car.
Officers said both of the bicyclists were riding in the designated bike lane when they were struck.
Injuries to Bicyclists
The bicyclists had visible injuries at the accident scene. They were taken to an area hospital.
Thankfully, the bicyclists are expected to recover.
Driver Fails Field Sobriety Test
According to officers, the driver of the car who struck the bicyclists failed a field sobriety test. The alleged drunk driver, 62-year-old Gary Hubbel was arrested. Hubbel is facing driving under the influence charges. He is being held at Sacramento County Jail and is not eligible for bail.
