Drunk Driving Accident Fatally Injures Woman Near Stockton

Unfortunately, this would be the last walk the woman would take due to a pedestrian accident caused by an alleged drunk driver. The loss of the woman has devastated those who loved her.

What Happened?
A woman was crossing North El Dorado Street in the vicinity of Martinique Court at approximately 9:28 pm. The woman initially crossed the street traveling eastbound and turned around to travel westbound. This was when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle heading southbound along El Dorado Street. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene until emergency personnel arrived.
Accident Fatally Injures Woman
Paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the pedestrian accident. When they arrived, they located the injured woman lying in the southbound lane near the curb. Sadly, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. Officials later identified the woman as 46-year-old Kathena Bridgewater of Stockton.
Police Arrest Alleged Drunk Driver
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was identified as 29-year-old Kenneth Grubb. Grubb remained at the scene until authorities arrived. Police suspected that Grubb was driving while intoxicated moments before the incident. Grubb was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death and was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
Loved One Forever Remembered
Kathena Bridgewater was born in the state of Oklahoma but was raised in the Bay Area of California. Bridgewater had moved to Stockton about 12 years ago. She joined the Army in 1989 and worked as a medic at a base in Germany. She was deployed throughout the globe until 1995. She secured a position as a medical assistant after the Army and had ties to working at Amazon in recent years.
Kathena Bridgewater recently married in August. She worked as a caregiver for her father and stepmother. She was looking forward to the arrival of her first grandchild. Sadly, she was never given the opportunity to meet her grandchild. She is survived by her friends and family, who love and miss her dearly.
