DUI Driver Strikes Bicyclist Roseville
I’m Ed Smith, a Roseville personal injury attorney. Officers from the Roseville Police Department received a report of a bicycle accident during the morning hours of Sunday, March 5, 2017. When officers arrived at the scene, they detained the driver that allegedly caused the bicycle accident on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injury.
What Happened?
A bicyclist was traveling along Atlantic Street in the vicinity of the westbound Interstate 80 off-ramp at about 9:30 am. For unknown reasons, the bicyclist was struck by a driver exiting off the freeway. The driver remained at the scene until authorities arrived.
What Caused the Bicycle Accident?
When officers from the Roseville Police Department arrived at the scene of the bicycle accident, they discovered the injured bicyclist and the driver of the vehicle that struck him. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Blake Robison from Arbuckle. Initial investigation reports indicated that officers detained Robison for suspicion of driving under the influence in addition to causing injury to the bicyclist. Robison was later booked into the Placer County Jail.
Nature of Injuries to Bicyclist
The bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Bicycle accidents oftentimes occur as a result of a single vehicle collision when a driver crashes into a bicyclist. This type of accident tends to result in traumatic injuries for a bicyclist for obvious reasons. One crucial reason being that a bicyclist has no form of protection against a moving motor vehicle. It is best for a motorist to keep a safe distance (3 feet rule) and always be alert of a bicyclist on the roadways.
