Speeding May Have Contributed to Injury Crash at Highway 29 Intersection

A multiple-vehicle crash, which was the second along Jameson Canyon Road in about an hour, involved five vehicles on March 15 near Napa. The earlier multiple-vehicle crash involved three vehicles in a nearby location and was caused by a driver running a red light. This accident happened at 12:35 p.m. at the Highway 29 intersection with Jameson Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

Driver Rear-Ends and Sideswipes Other Vehicles

The collision occurred when a Woodland man, age 36, and driving a Nissan Rogue along west Jameson Canyon, approached other vehicles stopped at the crossing for Highway 29. The Nissan driver was reportedly moving at an unsafe speed when their vehicle rear-ended one other car and sideswiped three others.

Two People Taken to Hospital With Minor Trauma

Two people suffered minor trauma in the accident. One was a Rio Vista man, age 61, and the other was a Vacaville man, age 36. Both men were transported to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center by ambulance.

Accidents in Which Multiple Vehicles Are Involved

It is almost always negligence that causes a crash, and fault in those collisions may be due to more than one driver. It is an injury attorney’s job to find out which driver/drivers caused or contributed to accident injuries because of their negligence, so they can be held liable. Below are some of the reasons why these accidents happen:

  • Speeding: Multi-vehicle accidents are often caused by speeding. When traffic slows or stops up ahead, the driver cannot stop in time to avoid a crash. Further, trying to stop too fast can cause a vehicle to fishtail and impact other cars, causing the driver to lose control.
  • Drunk or drugged driving: Drinking or using drugs and driving are major causes of accidents. The inebriated driver can exhibit impaired vision, slower reaction times and cannot control the speed of their vehicle. Inebriated drivers are more likely to cause a multi-vehicle accident than sober drivers.
  • Distracted driving: Texting and talking on a cell phone while driving have become major causes of accidents because drivers are not paying attention to the road. Since driving while texting requires the driver to keep their eyes on the screen, put one hand on the device when they write and take their attention away from the road, this is a recipe for disaster.
  • Fatigued driving: Traffic accidents are being caused more and more often by fatigued drivers. Being too tired to operate a vehicle causes the driver difficulty focusing on the task at hand and makes them unable to maintain focus. It is also possible to nod off or cross over into another lane while driving without noticing.

Getting Compensation Following a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

For a client to be able to receive the compensation they deserve, negligence must be found among the drivers of all the vehicles involved in the accident. We build a case to support the compensation claim of our clients after conducting an investigation to obtain that information. Then they can be compensated for the costs of their medical bills, wages lost from the inability to work, and pain and suffering. This gives the injured party the opportunity to concentrate on getting better, without the financial worries they would otherwise encounter.
