It was not known why he drifted off the road, whether he fell asleep, or whether alcohol or drugs were involved. It was also unknown whether the man died before the crash, or was killed by the impact with the tree or the ensuing fire.

In the below video. a car attempting to make a left turn through and across stopped traffic into a parking lot collided with another car Eastbound on Calvine right before Elk-grove Florin. The car making the left turn failed to see the oncoming car in the eastbound lane before attempting the turn.

On Mar 2, 2010 4 people were involved in a head on crash at 4:30 in the morning between two-cars in Elk Grove on Bruceville road. The driver of a Buick lost control of his vehicle after he hit a bump and swerved into another vehicle. Two people were taken to Kaiser but fortunately there were no fatalities. On June 9, 2011, a Dump truck lost control went over center divide on Elk Grove Blvd near Apple. The big rig crossed over into path of eastbound traffic and struck a Prius.
Four other cars were involved in a chain reaction. Two cars were crushed, but miraculously there were no fatalities.
