Elk Grove Brewfest

Elk Grove Brewfest

The Elk Grove Brewfest is being brought back for an additional year, and the increasing scene for craft beer in Elk Grove makes this event unique. Craft beer lovers all over Northern California are expected to come through Old Town for the 3rd annual Brewfest on April 20.

Food, Beer, and Live Music

Participants will have the luxury of choosing from a large variety of beer samples, with approximately 50 breweries, wineries, and cider companies in attendance. While beer can be casually sipped on by itself, having some delicious food pairings can take the tasting experience to a new level. There will be a handful of food trucks at the venue for your secret enjoyment! Additionally, there will be live music from DJs performing at the Old Town Plaza. The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

The first successful Elk Grove Brewfest in 2016 attracted many new and upcoming faces in the brewery business, and every year has brought a more diverse collection of vendors. Brewing companies representing the 2018 Northern California beer scene include Tilted Mash, the Flatland, Waterman, Dreaming Dog, and more. This community-inspired event is only for adults ages 21 years and over.

VIP admission tickets have already sold out. However, general admission tickets can be purchased online at www.elkgrovebrewfest.com for $40 each. To promote safe driving practices, designated drivers can permit $20 tickets to the event.

Elk Grove Brewfest is sponsored by Beers in Sac and the city of Elk Grove. Beers in Sac is giving away Lyft promo codes to help those interested arrive and leave the event safely. There will be an unlimited supply of beer samples, so please do not drink if you also plan on getting behind the wheel.

Drinking and Driving

Approximately 29 people are killed every day in the U.S. from car accidents that involve alcoholic impairment. On the bright side, drunk driving deaths have dropped by one-third over the last 30 years. While this is good news, DUIs are still a legitimate concern because drunk driving claims 10,000+ lives annually.

Here are some facts from the National Highways Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that demonstrate the link between alcohol consumption and impaired driving:

  • Alcohol decreases brain functioning, quick and rational judgment, muscle coordination, and reasoning.
  • Drinking slows our reaction time, making us more vulnerable to motor vehicle accidents.
  • Specific hand, eye, and foot coordination skills are essential to intelligent driving habits. Drinking reduces your control over such motor skills.
  • Heavy alcohol consumption can impact your ability to see straight. If you experience blurry vision or uncontrolled eye movement, your visual-spatial measurements will be unreliable.
