Elk Grove Presents Strauss Fest

I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove personal injury attorney. The Elk Grove Strauss Festival is proud to present its 29th anniversary show with a theme called “Who’s the Fairest of Them All?” The theme is reminiscent of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fairytale. You won’t want to miss Elk Grove’s premier classical musical and entertainment event of the year.

For the Love of Austrian Composer Johann Strauss II

Austrian composer Johann Strauss II, composed one of my personal favorites, The Blue Danube in 1866.
Enjoy this Youtube Video of the Strauss Fest held at Elk Grove Regional Park in 2015. This year’s Strauss Fest is coming July 28-31.

Fairytale Theme for the 2016 Strauss Fest Event

Members of the community are on the edge of their seats to see Strauss Island in Elk Grove’s Regional Park become magically transformed into a charming fairyland on July 28 through July 31. Come out and see the beautiful princess, the wickedly frightening queen and the most handsome prince in all the world. Don’t forget about the amazing Strauss dancers who will be performing to the dynamic music of Johann Strauss Jr. being performed by the Camellia Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra will be under the direction of Mr. Jay DeWald.

Many Beautiful Costumes on Display

This year’s dancers are a multi-generational cast, comprised of miners, tweens, teens, young adults and veteran dancers. They will be wearing lovely new and beautiful costumes. Many of us enjoy this part of the festival the most. The beautiful costumes are just marvelous to gaze upon.

Back By Popular Demand – Reserved Bleacher Seating

Reserved seating (bleacher packages) with various options are back by popular demand. More details about this type of seating as well as how to make reservations can be investigated on the Strauss Festival website located at, www.straussfestival.com.

Hospitality Suites Open To Invited Attendees

For the second year in a row, the Donor Hospitality Suite will be open to invited attendees. These special guests will get to meet Arnie Zimbelman, the husband of Strauss Festival founder, Mrs. Iris Zimbelman, who passed away on May 28, 2016. Enjoy some hors d’oeuvres and reminisce with Arnie while sipping some wine.

A Special Tribute to the Late Iris Zimbelman

In a special tribute to the late Mrs. Iris Zimbelman, a limited number of “Iris” pins can be purchased to commemorate her fond passion and love of Strauss. We certainly applaud her enduring spirit and kind support for more than 29 years.

Great Eats at the 2016 Strauss Festival

Now let’s talk about the food. There will be plenty of food booths. Let’s not forget about the famous hot dogs & brats by Elk Grove Rotary Club. Also on site will be the outstanding Squeeze Inn and Culinerdy Cruzer food trucks. Woo hoo! Let’s not forget about Rich’s Ice Cream, Mr. Pop’s Popcorn, and Nothing Bundt Cakes. Oh my, it’s going to be a diet cheat day for many of us.

Will Alcoholic Beverages Be Available for Sale?

Yes. Beer and wine will be available for purchase along with T-Shirts, glasses and a variety of fun souvenirs.

What Will The Strauss Festival Cost Me?

  • The parking will run you $10 if you desire to park within the Elk Grove Regional Park.
  • The festival is free to the public. Therefore, you must come out and enjoy!

Strauss Festival Grateful To The Many Supporters, Donors and Volunteers

The event could not be pulled off without the help and support of countless generous volunteers, donors, in-kind donations and grants. The cost to put this event on runs on a budget of about $150,000 per year. The fund requires regular intervals of replenishing which also happens through the many fundraisers such as the upcoming October Masquerade Ball and Strauss Tea. Costs are kept down due to the amazing volunteers that include all the stage workers, seamstresses, dancers, stage workers, board members and so many more. The event pays only the orchestra and the many suppliers of this production.

Showtime Information

The show shall begin Thursday through Sunday promptly at 7:30 p.m. There will be a prelude where costumed dancers parade admist the audience members. Then, the grand opening of the show is unveiled at 8:15 p.m. The show wraps up with a spontaneous fireworks grand finale.
