Unique Treasures – MGMA’s Artsy Flea
Date: Saturday, August 4, 2018
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location: 636 F Street, Eureka, CA 95501
Admission: Free
Come over and do your part to clear out the artistic clutter at the Morris Graves Museum of Art. Unique treasures will be available to be taken home by a new owner, which may be you. The Artsy Flea combines vintage and contemporary art displayed in a wide variety of items. For the classic art lover, there are paintings, photographs, and ceramics; for those who appreciate the abstract side of art, there will be a lovely selection of sculptures and assemblages. All event proceeds will go directly to the HAC Youth Art Education Programs.
Eureka’s ‘First Annual Street Art Festival’
Date: Saturday, August 11 – Saturday, August 18, 2018
Time: 24/7 access
Location: Old Town Eureka (1st St. through 4th St. & C St. through H St.)
Admission: Free
This event will be one special week consisting of local and international artists stopping by to contribute to painting murals and other forms of street art. Throughout the week, expect to see guest speakers, events, and the chance to observe the live creation of high-quality art. Art walks begin at 5:30 p.m. every day, leaving from the Black Faun Gallery. This family-friendly event is one where you can meet and watch artists, grab a bite to eat, have a drink at one of the beer gardens, and enjoy live music. Additionally, there will be a Kids Zone with fun and entertaining activities.
Audubon Birdwalk Hikshari Trail
Date: Sunday, August 19, 2018
Time: 9:00 a.m.
Location: West Del Norte & Railroad St., Eureka, CA 95503
Admission: Free
The Hikshari’ Trail is a scenic, multi-use trail along the Elk River, which spans a distance of 1.5 miles and passes through the Elk River Wildlife Sanctuary. This guided bird walk highlights many aspects of the area’s cultural and natural history. Topics include animal and plant identification, Elk River marine life and sandpit formation, Humboldt Bay geology, dune plant ecology, vagrant and migrant bird species at the willow patches, and marsh reconstruction.
