Eureka Man Seriously Hurt in Oregon Crash
A serious collision injured two people recently on a highway in the state of Oregon. According to Oregon State Police (OSP), the crash left two people with major injuries. One of the two individuals was identified as a resident of Eureka, California, while the other was from Brookfield, Massachusetts. The collision reportedly involved two vehicles and happened in the southeastern area of the state. Updates on the conditions of the injured men have not yet been provided.
Crash Information
OSP stated that the accident happened at around 2:30 p.m. on Lake of the Woods Highway close to mile marker 24. According to reports, a Eureka man had been driving west in a gray-colored Dodge pickup truck when his vehicle may have veered to the left. The truck eventually crossed over the highway median and entered into the path of an eastbound Dodge utility truck driven by the Massachusetts man. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing major damage to both trucks.
Response
Staff from OSP as well as firefighters from the Lake Creek Fire Department responded to the accident directly after they received notification regarding the collision. Upon arrival at the accident site, medical officials determined that both drivers had suffered severe injuries during the crash. One man was placed on a Mercy Flights medical helicopter, and the other was loaded onto a ground ambulance. Both men were reportedly taken to the Rogue Regional Medical Center to be given immediate treatment.
Investigation
OSP is reportedly at work conducting a full investigation into possible causes of this accident. It is important to remember that police reports can contain mistakes or be inconclusive as to fault. Some factors commonly involved in highway accidents include things outside of the control of drivers such as defects in the roadway and malfunctioning vehicle parts such as steering systems, brakes, tires, and more.
Recovering from Serious Accidents
After surviving a crash, it is common for people to suffer injuries that drastically affect their lives. These commonly include traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord trauma, bone fractures, internal bleeding, and other serious conditions that can be very physically painful and often take a long period of time to recover from. During this time, crash survivors are often left unable to work and may need to make modifications to their homes in order to live their lives. On top of these difficulties, many people are unable to pay for the steep costs related to medical procedures, physical therapy, and more.
While these concerns can cause people to feel overwhelmed, crash survivors and their families can often receive funds to help cover their losses by pursuing a personal injury claim. Many are unsure of whether or not their case is right for a personal injury claim, but it is always a good idea to speak to a qualified Eureka personal injury lawyer so that you know what options are available to you. Most attorneys are happy to offer you free advice about your situation over the phone. Because some cases can have filing periods as short as six months, it’s best to contact a lawyer as soon as you can.
