Woman killed in Fairfield Car Accident
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a female passenger of a vehicle lost her life during an accident that took place in Fairfield on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. The accident happened during the early evening and involved two vehicles. Reports indicated that two other individuals also suffered injuries during the crash. The identity of the fatally injured woman has not yet been released by Solano County authorities, and the accident remains under investigation by CHP. Collison Details
The accident reportedly took place at about 4:34 p.m. on Lyon Road close to the intersection of Blue Mountain Drive. A silver BMW had been traveling north on Lyon Road when, according to CHP, it made an unsafe turn. A red-colored Kia that had been heading in the opposite direction on Lyon Road collided with the BMW’s passenger side. Officials stated that the passenger of the BMW was ejected from the vehicle due to the force of the impact.
Response
Officers arrived at the scene of the crash minutes after it took place and discovered that three people had been injured. The woman who was ejected from the BMW was found with severe trauma and responders called for a helicopter ambulance to take her to a trauma center. However, the woman was tragically not able to recover from her injuries and was declared deceased before the helicopter arrived.
Both drivers involved in the crash were injured. The driver of the BMW reportedly suffered major injuries while the Kia driver received moderate trauma.
Investigation
Authorities shut down the roadway for around an hour and a half while an initial investigation of evidence at the crash scene was conducted. However, investigators have not released a full report regarding the factors they suspect to be the cause of the accident.
