As the weather begins to clear up, people everywhere are looking for reasons to get out of the house. While it’s easy for Fairfield residents to get in the car and visit the nearby Napa Valley or other locations across the Bay Area, there’s plenty for locals to do right here at home. As the largest city in Solano County and Sacramento’s gateway to the bay, it’s not hard to find an exciting event in town. Those living in the area may be interested in these upcoming Fairfield community events.
Solano Winds Community Concert
When: March 13, 2020, @ 8:00 p.m.
Where: Downtown Theatre, Fairfield, CA
The Solano Winds Community Concert Band is a local organization with a mission to provide Fairfield and nearby communities with high-quality musical performances. The organization also conducts various school and community outreach programs in order to make music more accessible for area residents. As part of an ongoing celebration of their 25th year, the band will be performing a concert entitled “Blue Notes,” featuring special guests, Ben Flint and Janese Powell.
Taste of Downtown
When: Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Where: Downtown District of Fairfield
Featuring live music, poetry readings, and an art walk, Fairfield’s “Taste of Downtown” event is a great way for locals to come together and enjoy the city’s vibrant culinary culture. As part of restaurant week (March 7 – 14), this event will feature special menus as well as discounts, free corkage, and more at various restaurants in Downtown Fairfield.
Saint Patrick’s Day Pooch Parade and Costume Contest
When: Saturday, March 14, 2020, @ 3:00 p.m.
Where: Solano Town Center
Dog-lovers of Fairfield have something to look forward to this upcoming St. Patrick’s Day. The city will be hosting a St. Patrick’s day Pooch Parade and a costume contest where participants will bring their dressed-up pups to compete for prizes across multiple categories. All participating dogs will receive prizes. However, the top three pooches will receive $100, $50, and $25 in gift cards, respectively. However, space for participating dogs is limited, so make sure that you sign your pet up before Thursday, March 12, if you are interested!
Matilda the Musical
When: Saturday, March 21 through Friday, April 3, 2020
Where: Downtown Theatre
Fairfield’s local actors are bringing to life their rendition of “Matilda the Musical” at the gorgeous Downtown Theatre. Matilda is the story of an extraordinary girl with a sharp mind and vivid imagination who stands against oppressive forces to take control of her destiny. This musical adaptation of the classic story by Roald Dahl is sure to delight attendees of all ages.
