Fairfield Major Injury Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Fairfield brain injury lawyer. On Sunday, January 14, 2018, an auto accident in Fairfield left at least one individual with severe injuries.
Accident Information
Reports given by officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate that the accident occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on the eastbound side of Highway 12 at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Entrance to the city from the highway was closed for an extended amount of time while officers responded to the accident scene and work crews subsequently removed dangerous debris from the roadway. Sources have reported that the intersection remained closed until late into the night at about 11:00 p.m.
Although officers confirmed that the auto accident involved major injuries, further details about the accident were not readily available. The number of individuals who were injured as well as the circumstances that caused the collision were unavailable.
Accident Injuries
An auto accident can cause many different types of injuries. Depending on how the vehicle(s) crash, what speed they are going at the time of the collision, whether or not vehicle passengers are wearing proper safety restraints, and other factors, auto accident injuries can affect almost all areas of the body and can range from minor to life-threatening.
Traumatic Brain Injuries
One type of injury that can be especially dangerous in an auto accident is a TBI or Traumatic Brain Injury. TBIs can be one of the most difficult events that an individual can face and the impact that these injuries can have on people and their families is serious.
It’s important to remember that TBIs aren’t always immediately recognizable. It is possible for an individual to suffer a TBI without even breaking skin. These injuries, called closed head injuries, can cause long-term and sometimes permanent symptoms including memory loss, headaches, mood swings, irritability, and the loss of cognitive functions.
If you think that you or a loved one may have received a TBI, it’s important that you immediately seek medical attention in order to avoid injury complications. After proper medical care is administered, calling a lawyer with experience with brain injury cases is a prudent next step.
Personal Injury Claims
When an accident is determined to be the fault of a negligent party, individuals who were injured in the incident are usually able to legally recover for their damages. Additionally, payments for damages that injured individuals can claim come in many different forms.
Injured individuals can seek recompense for things that may not immediately seem obvious such as money for physical therapy, loss of income potential, and more. If you’d like to learn more about what kinds of damages injured individuals can legally recover for, you can visit my site.
