Deadly Crash on Highway 65
Three vehicles were involved in a head-on auto collision in the vicinity of the south Wheatland area on Riosa Road and Highway 65.
What Happened?
A female motorist was behind the wheel of a Buick driving on Highway 65 southbound where she traversed over the double yellow lines. The Buick then came into contact with a Honda CRV which was driven by a male motorist. The CRV was struck by a pickup truck on the shoulder of the highway.
California Highway Patrol Reports
According to authorities from the California Highway Patrol, the cause of the female motorist to drift into oncoming traffic remains unknown but is under investigation. The female motorist of the Buick passed away as a result of the head-on crash. The male motorist of the Honda was air transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for his life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the pickup truck were reported to be uninjured in the crash. Due to the collision, Highway 65 was closed for a short while.
