Recovery of Losses From a Catastrophic Car Accident
A motor vehicle collision may have the potential to cause severe harm to all involved parties. Common auto crash injuries may include spinal cord injuries, internal trauma, TBIs, and broken bones. In some extreme cases, a loss of life may occur. In either of these scenarios, it is essential to hold the at-fault party liable for the resulting damages. This may be accomplished through a wrongful death action or a bodily injury claim. For an injured party, they may seek reimbursement for medical bills, wage loss, and other associated damages. This serves to make an injured individual whole again after the car wreck.
The purpose of a wrongful death action is to hold the at-fault party accountable for the fatal incident and seek reimbursement for the resulting losses. Compensation in these cases comes in two forms, non-economic and economic damages. This may cover financial and intangible losses, such as mental anguish, loss of companionship, loss of the decedent’s earnings they contributed to the household, funeral and burial expenses, and more. A wrongful death claim also allows surviving family members to obtain justice by holding the other side liable for their negligent actions.
The specific procedures and requirements for filing a claim for damages may differ based on the facts and circumstances of the case.
