On the night of Friday, April 21, 2023, officials in Madera County reported a fatal car crash on Road 35 and Avenue 12. The incident took place at approximately 9:15 p.m. and involved a Honda and a 2017 Ford pickup truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

In a preliminary release by officials, it was revealed that a 53-year-old Gilroy man was driving the Ford eastbound on Avenue 12 just west of Road 35. The Honda was involved in a rear-end collision with the Ford, CHP traffic officers reported.
Two passengers in the Ford, a 56-year-old woman and an 88-year-old woman, both Gilroy residents, were treated for minor injuries at Saint Agnes Medical Center. A passenger in the Honda, a 29-year-old Fresno woman, received treatment for moderate injuries at Community Regional Medical Center.
Sadly, the Honda driver, Maurice Anastacio Maldonado, 34, of Fresno, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. His identity has been withheld due to pending family notification. Additional information on the fatal car crash on Road 35 and Avenue 12 in Madera County was unavailable.
