Fatal Crash on State Route 4 in Antioch Area
A fatal crash on State Route 4 in the Antioch area was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on the afternoon of Friday, September 10, 2021. The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles.

At least two lanes of traffic were blocked because of the four-vehicle collision, according to CHP traffic officers. The incident involved a grey Toyota Corolla, a white Infiniti G37, a black Chevrolet Tahoe, and a semi-truck. The Infiniti driver allegedly merged between the big rig and the Chevrolet, propelling the Chevy into the center guardrail and back into the lanes of SR-4. The Infiniti was later struck by the big rig and the Toyota.
The Antioch Police Department (Antioch PD) requested two American Medical Response units to the scene of the motor vehicle collision at westbound State Route 4 and Hillcrest Avenue. It was initially reported by officials that at least one patient was found with serious injuries and another without a pulse.
Response unit BC8 from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CCCFPD) later declared one patient deceased at the collision site. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has recently released the identity of the decedent and Chevrolet driver, 56-year-old Eqbal Khan of Discovery Bay.
