Fatal Fairfield Highway Crash Injures Three
According to local California Highway Patrol (CHP), a serious accident took place in Fairfield on the very early morning of Tuesday, February 19, 2019. The crash reportedly left two people with severe trauma and tragically cost one person their life. The accident happened on a local highway and involved two separate vehicles. Officials of the Solano County Sheriff’s Department have not yet released the identity of the 62-year-old man who lost his life during the crash. Additionally, the incident is still under investigation by CHP. My condolences are extended to those who’ve lost a person they care about because of this accident.
Crash Details
Police report that the crash took place shortly before 12:50 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 12 and Beck Avenue just south of Allan Witt Park. Specific details about how the crash initially happened have not been reported. Police say that the accident involved a small passenger vehicle carrying two individuals as well as a Sports Utility Vehicle with a solo driver. The force of the accident reportedly sparked a car fire that engulfed the first vehicle.
Response
Fairfield Police Department (FPD) officers were the first on the scene. These officers immediately began trying to save the occupants of the burning vehicle. Reportedly, a passing citizen also assisted with rescuing the two individuals.
All three individuals who were involved in the accident were discovered with severe injuries at the scene of the accident. The injured parties were immediately transported to a nearby hospital to be given emergency medical care. Tragically, the passenger of the smaller vehicle could not recover and passed away while in hospital custody.
Investigation
Police closed the highway and set up detours for area drivers. During the shutdown, CHP investigated the accident scene for evidence that might help them understand what factors caused the crash. While the investigation continues, officers haven’t reported any suspected causes of the crash. Multiple vehicle collisions like this one can be caused by a variety of factors. These factors frequently include driving while distracted, speeding, dangerous road conditions, DUI, auto product defects, and more.
Calling an Attorney
The effects of fatal accidents on families are often serious. People who are dealing with intense feelings of grief are often also faced with difficult financial problems related to the sudden loss of a loved one. While coping with grief can take months and even years, financial issues often can’t be delayed. For this reason, it is important to speak with an experienced wrongful death lawyer as soon as you are able. The sooner that a lawyer can begin working on your case, the better they can investigate your case and ensure you receive the payment that you deserve for your losses.
