Fatal Hit-and-Run Western Fresno County
According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident recently occurred in western Fresno County. The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m. in the area of Bishop Avenue and Shields Avenue. Officials indicated that this was a rural area of Fresno County.

A preliminary release indicated that a man from Kerman, age 32, was driving a 2010 Honda Pilot in the area when he allegedly crashed into a pedestrian. An eyewitness said that they observed the Honda driver stop, check the injured pedestrian, and leave the crash site.
Authorities later located the suspect vehicle at a residence not far from the scene of the pedestrian accident. The Honda driver was detained by deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office until CHP traffic officers arrived on site.
The motorist was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Authorities are working to determine if the individual on foot was previously hit by a vehicle before the Honda. Additional information on the incident has not yet been released as an investigation is ongoing.
