Officers with the Modesto Police Department (Modesto PD) released a report of a fatal pedestrian crash on 8th Street on the morning of Tuesday, October 12, 2021. The accident took place in the area of I Street between 8th Street and 7th Street shortly after 5:40 a.m.

Authorities responded to a report of a car vs. pedestrian accident in the downtown Modesto area. Upon arrival, Modesto PD officers located an adult male that was trapped underneath an SUV that was allegedly headed westbound on I Street.
The pedestrian was extricated by firefighters and was transported to an area hospital for immediate treatment. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization. An update including his identity and the sequence of events leading up to the fatal pedestrian accident was not immediately provided by local law enforcement due to ongoing investigation.
