Deadly Motorcycle Accident in Rocklin

I’m Ed Smith, a Rocklin Personal Injury Lawyer. On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, a man was killed in a fatal Rocklin motorcycle accident. Any accident and the traumatic injuries it causes can be life-altering to all those who are involved. It is even more so when the accident takes the life of someone in our community, especially in the case of wrongful death.

My heart and prayers go out to the friends and family of this young man and to all those affected by this tragedy.

What Happened?

Early Tuesday morning, at about 3:00 a.m. along Pacific Street. A motorcyclist traveling northbound lost control of his motorcycle in between Woodside Drive and Sunset Boulevard. The reasons he lost control of the bike remain unknown. The man crossed through a gap in the median and slid into the southbound lanes. He and the bike came to rest on the other side of the road. No other vehicles were involved in the motorcycle accident.

The Result

A person who was shopping at a nearby 7-eleven store heard the crash. They rushed outside and upon seeing the downed motorcycle called 911. Police responded but it was reported that the traumatic injuries he suffered in the crash were fatal. They have not released the identity of the motorcyclist but confirmed that it was a 25-year-old-male resident of Rocklin.

Know What to Do When Involved in a Motorcycle Accident?

Here are a few tips to follow when you are in a motorcycle accident:

  1. Get to Safety. You need to make sure that you are out of any harm’s way before addressing anything at the scene. Make sure that either traffic has stopped or you are out of the path of any moving vehicle.
  2. Injured? Call 911. If you or anyone is injured it is important to get the help you need as fast as you can. If you are attending to someone or hurt yourself, order a specific person at the scene to call 911.
  3. Stay at the scene of the accident. This allows you to exchange relevant information with those involved in the accident and with law enforcement.
  4. Gather information. If you have a smartphone or camera handy, take photos of the scene as long as you will not increase your risk of injury. Also, talk to witnesses of the accident and for those who are willing, take names and contact information.
  5. Do not admit fault. State only factual statements. Even avoid saying “I’m okay” as this can hinder your ability to receive compensation for your accident injuries. Direct any questions about the accident to your lawyer.
