Fatal Sacramento County Crash Occurs on Jackson Road

A fatal Sacramento County crash on Jackson Road near Ione Road in the Sloughhouse area resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two women, authorities said. The collision occurred recently around 4:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Faulty Left Turn May Have Contributed to Fatal Sacramento County Crash

The incident began when a woman in a Toyota was at a stop sign on northbound Ione Road at Jackson Road. Simultaneously, a man driving a westbound Buick Encore on Jackson Road and a woman driving an eastbound Ford F-150 on Jackson Road was approaching the same intersection. The Toyota driver attempted a left turn from the stop sign but moved directly into the Buick’s path, causing a collision. The impact of the collision forced the Buick into opposing lanes on Jackson Road, where it collided head-on with the Ford truck.

Left-Turning Vehicle Causes Another Motorist to Strike a Pickup

The Buick driver was pronounced dead at the scene, with his identity yet to be released. The driver of the Ford suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital, while the Toyota driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Deadly Accident Under Investigation

Authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the fatal Sacramento County crash. Both directions of Jackson Road were closed for an extended period following the incident as investigators with the CHP traffic collision unit worked to determine further details.
