Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash In Auburn
On Friday, December 6, 2019, one person was fatally injured during a three-vehicle crash in Auburn. In addition to the decedent, two other people suffered injuries requiring hospital care. According to reports, one of these individuals was seriously hurt. Placer County officials have not yet reported the identity of the fatally injured woman and the accident remains under California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigation.
Crash Information
The accident took place on Highway 49 on the northern end of Auburn. CHP stated that a woman had been driving southbound in a 1996 Lexus US300 close to South Fork Dry Creek. Reportedly, the right rear tire of the Lexus was damaged and worn down to its rim, causing it to shoot sparks into the air. The Lexus had been approaching the Joeger Road exit when it suddenly swerved right for unknown reasons, entering northbound traffic. Shortly after entering the northbound side of the highway, the Lexus collided with the front end of a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
After the initial crash, the Lexus spun out into the path of a northbound 2017 Toyota 4Runner, which collided with the Lexus’ broadside. This second collision caused the Lexus driver to be ejected through her window.
Response
When responders arrived at the accident location, they found the Lexus driver had suffered critical injuries. Cal Fire medics reportedly attempted to give the woman medical aid. However, she tragically passed away on-scene.
The Hyundai driver, identified as a 39-year-old woman, and one of her passengers were found trapped inside their wrecked car. The two individuals were extricated from the vehicle and driven via ambulance to the Roseville Medical Center for treatment. Reports indicated that the Hyundai driver was seriously injured. The 4Runner driver was not injured during the incident.
Contacting an Attorney
Families are often faced with serious challenges after losing a loved one. The emotional impact that fatal collisions have can be devastating, and it’s common for people to feel overwhelmed by their grief. Learning to cope with grief can be hard and takes a lot of effort. However, many are unable to focus on healing emotionally because of serious financial concerns related to the crash.
Losing a family member can also mean losing a source of income that your household needs. Additionally, our loved ones often perform high-value services such as childcare, cleaning, home maintenance, cooking, and other tasks that we rely on. On top of losing access to income and services, families can be saddled with expensive medical bills incurred before their loved one’s death. Altogether, these issues can leave people wondering how they will be able to get by.
It’s important for families to have stability after suffering such a tragic loss. For this reason, it’s vital to get in touch with a wrongful death lawyer. A good attorney will know how to investigate the accident, prepare your case, negotiate with insurance companies, and, if necessary, argue in court in order to make sure that you and your family can claim the compensation you deserve.
