Fatal Vallejo Collision
I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. In Vallejo on Tuesday, June 19, 2017, a collision resulted in the death of a local woman. According to the Vallejo Police Department (VPD), the collision took place on Curtola Parkway only a short distance west of Lemon Street at about 6:31 a.m.
Accident Details
VPD told reporters that a silver Toyota Corolla was traveling west on Curtola Parkway when it attempted to turn left in order to enter the parking lot of the SolTrans Park and Ride. While the Corolla was turning, the vehicle reportedly collided with a silver Lexus GS300 that had been driving east on Curtola in the centermost lane. The collision reportedly caused major damage to both vehicles.
Injuries and Response
When emergency responders got to the crash, they found the passenger of the Corolla, a 58-year-old resident of Vallejo by the name of Ma Samonte, had sustained major traumatic injuries. The woman was immediately transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital in order to receive emergency treatment. Sadly, the injuries were too severe for treatment and she lost her life in the hospital later in the day.
The driver of the Corolla, a 31-year-old Vallejo woman and daughter of Ma Samonte, was found to have sustained minor injuries. The driver of the silver Lexus, a 26-year-old resident of Vallejo, sustained no apparent injuries. However, the passenger of the Lexus, a 62-year-old woman from Fremont, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Ma Samonte while they deal with their terrible loss.
Causal Factors
VPD reported that they do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have been a part of the accident. VPD also noted that speeding did not seem to be a factor either. The incident is still under an investigation and anybody who may have information that could help officers better understand the collision has been asked to contact the VPD’s Traffic Department at (707) 648-4014. Those calling should refer to the case number 17-7864.
Wrongful Death and Legal Help
When a loved one is lost unexpectedly, friends and family can feel totally shocked. In such times of grief, dealing with the legal aspects of loss can seem trivial and even overwhelming. However, those who are responsible for your loss usually do not have to deal with the same emotional trauma and are focused on disclaiming responsibility. Calling a lawyer to stop this from happening can not only prevent evidence from being covered up but can give one peace of mind.
