Fatal Yuba City Crash
I’m Ed Smith, a Yuba City auto accident attorney. A man from Marysville lost his life on the morning of Monday, March 12, 2018, in a vehicle collision that occurred south of Yuba City.
My sympathies are with the grieving loved ones of the deceased.
What Happened?
Local authorities reported that the accident occurred at about 9:10 a.m. north of the Subacco Road junction on the northbound side of Highway 113. Reports indicate that a 57-year-old male resident of Marysville had been driving south when he “made an unsafe turning movement” that caused his vehicle to cross the median of the highway and travel into the path of an oncoming big-rig truck.
Reports also indicated that a small pickup truck became involved in the accident prior to the initial collision. Further details about how the accident occurred are currently unavailable.
What Type of Injuries?
The driver of the vehicle that crossed the highway’s center line was found by emergency responders with fatal injuries. Additionally, officers reported that the man had not been wearing his seatbelt when the crash took place. The man’s identity is currently being withheld by the Sutter County Coroner’s Office pending his family’s notification.
Both the operator of the big-rig and the driver of the pickup, who was identified as a Yuba City resident, were reported to have suffered minor injuries
What Caused the Crash?
Investigating officials have yet to report whether or not DUI is suspected as an accident factor. Factors possibly involved in the collision that will be investigated include things like vehicle malfunction, roadway defects, distracted driving, driver fatigue, a medical emergency, etc.
Big Rig Accidents
Due to their massive size, commercial tractor-trailers often cause severe injuries and damages when they are involved in accidents and companies that own and operate large trucks anticipate the possibility. Typically, trucking companies will send legal teams to accident sites as soon as possible in order to mitigate their company’s liability for payment of damages.
Sadly, cases involving wrongful death are no different. However, calling a lawyer as soon as you are able can help to ensure that you and your family receive the compensation that you deserve.
