Folsom Dam Fatal Crash
A collision involving two vehicles caused a street located near Folsom Dam to close down on Sunday, July 17, 2016. Sadly, three people passed away as a result of the collision.
What Happened?
The Folsom Police Department reports that the fatal crash took place on the Folsom Lake Crossing at approximately 5:10 pm. A Ford Mustang was traveling westbound when the driver crossed over into the eastbound roadway and struck a vehicle.
In the Youtube Video that appears below, the family of Casey Marsullo discusses the loss of their loved one. They also extend apologies to the loved ones of the other individuals killed in Sunday’s crash.
Sacramento County Coroner’s Office Reports
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office reports that 29-year-old Lorena Rico from Folsom, 35-year-old Casey Steven Marsullo from Sacramento, and 70-year-old Diane Violet Schut from El Dorado Hills lost their lives due to the tragic car accident. There was also a fourth person involved in the crash but their identity and personal injury information has not been revealed yet.
Fatal Crash Aftermath
The driver of the Mustang was identified as Marsullo alongside with their passenger, Rico, were killed as a result of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle driving eastbound was identified as Schut and there was also a passenger in their vehicle. According to authorities, the occupants in the vehicle driving eastbound were transported to a hospital and Schut later passed on.
Possible Factor in Folsom Dam Fatal Crash
According to investigators of the vehicle collision, speed may be a developing factor leading up to the crash. The Folsom Lake Crossing was shut down in both the east and westbound lanes; however, it has reopened since the crash. Authorities have not released any additional details at this time.
