Folsom City Zoo

Another great place to bring kids is the Folsom City Zoo. This is a small zoo, but it is entirely full of tons of different rescue animals. The grounds are lovely, so what it lacks in size, it makes up for by being so picturesque. Because it is small, it allows you to get closer to the animals that they do have, which can be a great educational experience for kids. It is a great way to get out of the hustle and bustle of being out and return to nature for a little while.

Harris Center

If you were hoping to catch some entertainment while in Folsom, you should check out the events calendar for the Harris Center. This auditorium is often home to some really great acts and outstanding performances. The variety of entertainment they offer is great because there will surely be something for everyone. The interior is stunning, which makes it an excellent place for a night out or a romantic date. They also offer different seasonal shows, which can be awesome if you are away on vacation during the holiday season.

Folsom Historical Museum

For the history buff in your group, there is the Folsom Historical Museum. This is a great way to learn the history of Folsom, California, and the surrounding area. It is packed with excellent photographs and artifacts from the past. It is a great place to bring the whole family, and the tours are excellent. It touches on the gold rush days and how that affected the area. There are also many great things to do nearby, like good restaurants and gold panning for children. This can really make it into a place to spend the whole day.

Folsom Valley Railway

If you are interested in trains, the Folsom Valley Railway is the perfect place for you. A small train goes around a one-mile track near the Folsom Zoo. You get to hear the history of trains and of that train, which is much more exciting than you might think, mainly because you hear it on an adorable train. There are also cute little things to do after the train ride, like getting your name stamped into a horseshoe by a blacksmith, which makes a fantastic keepsake of your trip.

Folsom Premium Outlets

If shopping is what you hope to do while you are on vacation, the Folsom Premium Outlets are great. They offer so many different designer shops at discounted prices. This is a great place to spend the day because there is a food court and plenty to do. There are stores for everyone’s interests and price points, making it an excellent place to bring a group. It is also beautiful to walk around because the landscaping is charming. There is a lot to see and a lot to do here.

Darrington Mountain Bike Trail

For the adventurous, outdoorsy types is the Darrington Mountain Bike Trail. This place is not just for mountain biking but also an excellent place to go hiking. It can be a little tricky, so it might not be the best place for small children, but it is excellent if you want to exercise and see some really pretty sights while you are away. It is a technical trail with many hills, but it gives pretty views along the way, making it all worth it. The longer you are on the trail, the better and better it gets.

Folsom Dam and Powerhouse

Another exciting place to go is the Folsom Dam and Powerhouse. This is a perfect place to learn about the dam and powerhouse’s history and tour it. It is fantastic to hear the history of the powerhouse and all of the changes it has undergone throughout the years, and what they hope to do with it in the future. The dam tour is also exciting, and it is incredible to see how massive the dam and powerhouse are. There are always a lot of really cool exhibits to explore.

Carpenter Hill

If you are looking to snap some perfect pictures while you are on vacation, Carpenter Hill is a place you just have to go to. It is a photographer’s paradise, especially when the sun sets. It will give you some amazing photographs of Sacramento Valley and the surrounding area. A quick search online will show you just how beautiful the pictures taken from here are, and it is not a very well-known spot, so you will most likely have it all to yourself. This is great if you love taking scenic walks with even better pictures.
