Locals know that, in addition to natural beauty, Ukiah offers a variety of exciting community events. A few upcoming events are detailed below.
Holiday Wine and Artisan Faire
Area residents are invited to come to BARRA of Mendocino at 7051 North State Street on Saturday, November 18, 2017, to enjoy local wines while shopping for unique, hand-made gift items crafted by local artisans. The event will include live performances including a chef demo at 1 pm led by local chef, Nicholas Petti.
Guests will be able to enjoy various gourmet foods and holiday-themed treats. Attendance is free, but attendees are expected to bring their own wine glasses for tastings.
Grace Hudson Museum Presents: Mastering the Molten
The Grace Hudson Museum in Ukiah will be hosting an exhibit highlighting the contemporary glass art from master craft workers throughout Mendocino County. The exhibit aims to survey the diversity of the medium of glass by featuring artists who use techniques that range from cold work, kiln forming, sandblasting and classic Venetian glassblowing to design with computers and wood-burning using molten glass.
The exhibit opens on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. and will be shown at regular museum hours until January 28, 2018.
First Friday Art Walk
On the first Friday of every month, the art galleries of Ukiah stay open late for Ukiah Art Walk, a series of special exhibits. Residents and visitors alike are invited to come to downtown Ukiah on Friday, December 1, 2017, in order to see local art, meet artists, and enjoy free refreshments with their community.
The event is free to the public and begins at 5:00 p.m.
Ukiah Symphony Performance
The Ukiah Symphony Orchestra has been bringing the Ukiah Valley community cultural enrichment in the form of beautiful orchestral music for over 38 years and, on Saturday, December 2, 2017, will be hosting a concert at the Mendocino College Center Theatre. Ukiah’s premier symphonic group, conducted by Margie Rice, will be playing Beethoven’s piano concerto No. 3 and Symphony No.5, as well as Corelli’s Christmas Concerto.
Tickets for students with ASB cards and for kids under the age of 18 are free.
