Funding Higher Education in Elk Grove

It is hard to believe that fall is right around the corner. Our kids will be going back to school soon. For some parents that means primary school. For others it may mean middle or high school. For another group of parents the school we are talking about is college.   We all are painfully aware of how much money that is going to cost us.

Like many parents, funding my children’s education is high on my list of priorities. It can be overwhelming to learn that private colleges can average around $35,000 per year.

If your kids are still young, the time to start saving is NOW.

Last week I came across an article about a local Elk Grove family that was playing a concert in the courtyard of the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. What would have been a nice article about a regular family band had an interesting twist to it.

To save for college tuition for their kids, the family got together and organized a “family band”.

To me it is very reminiscent of the Jackson 5. And it’s as easy as 1-2-3 and A-B-C to figure out how unique and impressive it is to find this family working tirelessly to pave the way to their future through a college education fund.

Meet the Fong Family.  Members: Mario Fong, Nina Fong, Maxwell Fong, and Leland Fong.  The Fong children range in age between 8 and 20 years old. The name of their band is called College Fund Street Band.  They play many local and out-0f-town venues to build up their college education fund.  They know the importance of saving for college now while there is still plenty of time!

You can hire them to play at your events.  Whether it is a wedding, birthday bash or concert in the park, this band has it going on.  They even have their very own website created by their dad and Maxwell Fong.   Follow this link http://www.cfstreetband.com/#collegefundstreetband.

If you were at the Crocker Museum on July 24, 2015 you may have heard them perform “Sitting on the dock of the bay”.

I was amazed to learn that the Fong family plays about 100 concerts a year. They have been inspiring many in their combined family effort to pay the rising costs of higher education.

We applaud this resourceful Elk Grove family for forming the College Fund Street Band to combat the rising cost of a college education.
