Minor Injuries Caused in Two-Vehicle Crash on SR 99
Minor injuries occurred in a Sacramento accident on October 7 along Golden State Highway. The collision happened between a pickup truck and Ford Mustang. It occurred around 6:39 in the morning along northbound S.R. 99 just south of the Mack Road westbound onramp. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) police report said that it appeared as though the Mustang struck the pickup and then crashed into the center divider, leaving it facing sideways in the HOV lane.
Accident With Minor Injuries Being Investigated
Between one and three lanes of the highway were affected. However, lane number four remained open to traffic. Minor injuries were reported in the incident. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The collision is under investigation by the CHP to determine the cause.
Serious Injuries May Have Delayed Symptoms
It is always important for someone who has been in a traffic collision to get checked at the emergency room or by the family physician. Even minor injuries can become more serious if they are dismissed. Since the individual’s body is in a state of stress and excitement, the symptoms of serious injuries may not appear until days later. Some of the conditions that can occur after a traffic accident and appear later include:
- Concussion: Traumatic brain injuries can occur from an accident, and symptoms may not appear for several days. Long-term effects may develop initially from what appear to be minor injuries such as problems with vision, headaches, memory lapses and personality changes.
- Cervical strain or sprain: These types of seemingly minor injuries occur when the head is violently thrown back and forth upon accident impact. They are far from minor. Whiplash can cause headaches, numbness in the arms, fatigue and dizziness as well as neck and shoulder pain.
- Spine and back trauma: Damage to the back or spine can appear to be minor injuries and then flare up later and become serious. Weakness, problems breathing, loss of feeling or tingling can all be signs of a spinal or back injury.
- Post-traumatic stress disorder: Traffic accidents are emotionally and psychologically damaging. Because an individual in an accident gets an adrenaline surge at the time, they may not realize that the collision was more traumatic than they thought. Nightmares, fear of riding in a vehicle, panic attacks and more can be the result.
Car Accident Investigations
In addition to working with the authorities, our personal injury law firm conducts its own investigation into an accident caused by negligence. In this way, we can find the evidence needed to support a compensation claim for injuries. Some of the areas in which our investigators seek evidence include:
- The investigators head to the location of the injury accident right away before the evidence is lost or covered up when traffic begins passing again.
- The accident report filed by the police is checked to ensure its accuracy. Sometimes they contain errors.
- Witness statements are examined to look for evidence and for information that supports the client’s claim.
- Accident reconstruction is performed by the investigators, which shows the positioning of the vehicles, which can also point to fault.
- Captured video feeds from road and traffic cameras are sought, which can show the accident with minor injuries as it occurred.
- The investigators look for signs of government negligence, from potholes to poor lighting and weakened guardrails.
