Grass Valley Hit and Run Injures Pedestrian
Help from the public is being sought in Grass Valley to identify a driver who committed a hit and run as well as to identify the pedestrian who suffered a critical injury on August 11. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened at the intersection of Red Dog Road and Berggren Lane around 1:00 in the morning. Those with information on either the pedestrian or driver of the fleeing vehicle are asked to contact the Grass Valley CHP.
Local Resident Hears Crash
Darin Barry is a resident of Grass Valley who lives in front of where the accident happened. He heard the noise of skidding tires just before the vehicle struck the pedestrian. He said he heard the noise, went out into his front yard and discovered the pedestrian lying on his property.
Injured Pedestrian Has Not Been Identified
The pedestrian, according to the CHP, is a “John Doe,” which means they have not determined the man’s identity. There was only one identifying feature on the man, which was a tattoo of a flower located on the left shoulder.
Witnesses Spoke to the Hit and Run Driver
The CHP reported that witnesses spoke for a brief period to a woman, who is a suspect in the Grass Valley case. She then fled in her vehicle toward Celestial Bay, while Barry went indoors at his home to retrieve his cellphone. Barry said the the woman claimed the pedestrian jumped in front of her vehicle, but he saw no evidence to support that claim. The CHP said that the vehicle being driven by the female driver who is sought in the incident is a white 2007 Toyota Highlander. Barry himself spoke to the woman driver and said he would recognize her in a line up and believes the hit and run motorist may live in the area. The witnesses said the woman has blond hair that is shoulder-length, is heavyset and around 6 feet in height.
Hit and Runs Not Unusual in the Area
Barry said that he had lived in this area his entire life and over the years has seen a number of hit and run collisions. He pointed out that there are no sidewalks in this area, it has high traffic and deer are often struck. In addition, he states that the traffic moves too fast after dark, which creates a bad situation. What bothered him the most was why the driver left the pedestrian accident scene without knowing how the injured man was. He stated the man who was struck was in terrible pain.
What an Attorney Can Do for You
After an accident, individuals are stressed due to physical injuries and the worry of who will pay for the expenses associated with the crash. That is where an injury lawyer can help. We send our investigative team to the accident site to gather evidence that will establish fault. We have experience in using techniques to help identify the run away driver. We examine the vehicle to see if telltale signs that could help identify the perpetrator are present. We also speak to witnesses who can provide vital information. Our investigators locate videos that capture the accident digitally, if possible. Once this evidence is amassed, our legal team is able to build a strong case against the defendant. This can be used in negotiations with the insurance company or presented in civil court.
