Head-On Collision Ends in Major Injury for a Sacramento Resident
A head-on collision seriously injured a Sacramento resident recently along Highway 20. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) identified the injured man as 26-year-old Michael Ford, Jr. He reportedly suffered major injuries in the accident. Ford was airlifted to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The other driver was uninjured in the crash. According to the CHP, neither drugs nor alcohol appears to have contributed to the accident.
Details of the Accident
The CHP from the office at Clear Lake reported that the Sacramento man was driving west along Highway 20 in a Toyota Corolla approaching Scotts Valley Road at around 4:50 in the afternoon. At the same time, Alejandro Becerra-Camarillo, age 38, was going eastbound on the highway in a GMC Sierra pulling a utility trailer and was a short distance past Scotts Valley Road. For unknown reasons, Ford’s vehicle drifted over the yellow lines directly into the path of Becerra-Camarillo’s GMC. This resulted in a head-on crash. Both men stayed at the accident scene.
Head-On Collisions
A head-on collision is one of the most terrifying accidents a person can have. They often result in serious injuries or fatalities. Seventy-five percent of such accidents happen on two-lane roads without a medium in a rural area. They are rare and account for only 2 percent of accidents. However, they are involved in 10 percent of all fatalities due to a motor vehicle crash. Head-on collisions usually involve two vehicles but can also be a single-vehicle crash with a fixed object. Driving in unfamiliar territory can end in a head-on collision.

How a Lawyer Helps
An experienced car accident lawyer can help by investigating the accident, proving that another’s negligence caused it and that the collision was responsible for your injuries. The lawyer can also deal with the insurance company for you. If the insurance company is unwilling to pay what you need and deserve, the lawyer can prepare a strong case to present in civil court. Lawyers conduct their own investigations.
Our investigators begin by examining evidence at the accident site, reviewing existing police records, and interviewing eyewitnesses. Next, they may use accident reconstruction techniques, which can expose tell-tale evidence such as road marks. This indicates whether the driver attempted to stop or avoid a crash. We also obtain video footage of the accident from nearby businesses and traffic cameras. If the business owner refuses to turn over the video, our attorneys can obtain a subpoena for it. Additional videos taken by eyewitnesses may also be located. We use this to build a strong case to negotiate the best recovery of damages. If negotiations are not fruitful, we will present it to a civil court in a lawsuit.
