Two Hurt After Head-On Crash in Fairfield
According to local police, a head-on crash in Fairfield left two people with injuries on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Fairfield Police Department (FPD) indicated that the accident occurred at an intersection on the northern side of the city, involved two vehicles, and that both injured individuals were transported to a local hospital to receive treatment. An investigation into possible causes of the accident is reportedly ongoing.
Crash Details
The accident occurred just after 10:30 at the Transportation Court and North Texas Street intersection just off of Highway Interstate 80. Details about the events leading up to the crash have not been released in reports. However, FPD indicated that one of the two vehicles caught fire as a result of the accident. Pictures taken at the crash scene show that both a large SUV and a grey-colored sedan were left with severe front-end damage.
FPD sent out emergency responders to the area directly after being notified about the collision. When they arrived, officers discovered that one of the involved individuals had been trapped inside their vehicle. It reportedly took firefighters about 12 minutes to perform an emergency extrication and remove the survivor from the wreck. Medical officials indicated that out of the two hospitalized parties, only one had suffered major trauma.
Burn Injuries
When vehicles catch fire during accidents, there’s a serious risk of burn injuries. These injuries can be extremely painful and often take a long time to recover from. Not only do burn injuries often cause long-lasting symptoms, but survivors often face serious mental health issues related to their injury. In order to fully recover, it’s often necessary for survivors to undergo several medical procedures as well as long-term physical therapy and medication use.
Paying For Car Accident Injuries
Not only is the process of regaining your health both physically and mentally taxing, but it can be very expensive as well. Many crash survivors worry about how they will be able to afford the care they need, especially if their injury has affected their ability to perform their job.
