Highway 160 Head-On Injury Collision Involves Multiple Vehicles

A head-on injury collision occurred on the evening of June 28 at Mackenson, south of Rio Vista. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened along Highway 160 close to Brannon Island Road at about 8:15 p.m. A minimum of three vehicles were involved.

Ambulance Called to Scene of Head-On Injury Collision

An ambulance was called to the scene for reported injuries. No additional information was provided. Traffic delays were expected. The CHP traffic collision unit determines what happened to cause the crash and will assign the fault.

Head-On Collisions and Recovering Compensation

An injury attorney thoroughly investigates a head-on injury collision to establish fault. If another driver is found negligent, the injured party can seek compensation, which includes:

  • Medical expenses: All medical costs related to the accident are recoverable, from ambulance fees and hospitalization to physicians’ bills and rehabilitation services. The continued expenses are calculated and added if the injury is unresolved by settlement time.
  • Lost wages: Injuries from collisions often prevent people from working during recovery. Compensation includes lost wages, bonuses, tips, and other earnings, as well as the loss of pension and insurance benefits. If permanent disability occurs, the injured party can collect their income until retirement age in a lump sum. The salary difference is recovered if they can work but cannot do their former job and have to take one that pays less.
  • Pain and suffering: Compensation extends to physical and emotional trauma, including pain, depression, anxiety, and sleeplessness caused by the accident. Post-traumatic stress disorder is fairly common and requires professional treatment, the cost of which is recoverable.

Investigating Your Accident to Gather Supporting Evidence

Our firm’s investigation and legal resources enable us to prove another driver’s negligence in head-on injury collision cases. Our investigators gather evidence from:

  • Accident scene: Examining the scene of the head-on collision to find proof of fault includes finding evidence, taking photographs, and examining roadway conditions.
  • Police report: The accuracy of police reports is verified, as errors can impede compensation claims. If errors are found, a statement correcting the information is included.
  • Incident reconstruction: Reconstructing the position of vehicles before, during, and after the head-on collision can determine fault.
  • Witness testimonies: Interviewing witnesses is done to collect corroborating evidence regarding the accident.
  • Video evidence: Reviewing footage from area traffic cameras can identify video evidence of the collision as it occurred and provide powerful evidence.

Once liability is established and data is gathered, our investigators forward the evidence to our injury lawyers. They then use it to build a compelling case to support our client’s compensation claim.
