Injuries Occur in Head-On Intersection Crash at Manlove Avenue
An intersection crash in the Rosemont area of Sacramento on July 5 sent at least one person to the hospital with injuries following a head-on accident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the accident happened at Manlove Avenue and South Watt Avenue just before 9:00 in the morning. It involved an Acura CL and Hyundai Elantra that collided head-on in the middle of the intersection.
Intersection Crash Injures at Least One Person
Lanes were blocked along northbound Watt Avenue at Manlove in Rosemont while Sac Fire first responders tended to the injured, and tow trucks removed the vehicles. It was reported that Sac Fire transported the injured to Kaiser Permanente North for further evaluation and treatment. The CHP is conducting an investigation into the cause of the intersection crash.
Collisions at Intersections
An intersection crash can result in some of the most serious injuries, especially if it involves a head-on collision. Most head-on collisions involve a turning vehicle that cuts in front of an oncoming car. Some of the reasons this can happen are:
- One of the drivers is distracted by texting, eating or fiddling with a radio while either turning or going straight. This momentary pause in concentration can lead to an intersection crash.
- One of the motorists is speeding and unable to slow down or stop in time to avoid a collision.
- A driver is fatigued from performing shift work or missing sleep and cannot concentrate on the surrounding traffic.
- The traffic light is malfunctioning so that both motorists believe they have the right of way. The government entity charged with upkeep may be held liable.
- A driver is intoxicated or has been using drugs, which adversely affects their reflexes, judgment and even vision.
- The turn light at the intersection is getting ready to change, and the driver wants to beat the arrow before it changes to red.
How a Lawyer Can Help
Intersection accidents can be complex because of the multiple lanes and directions where motorists, pedestrians and bicycle riders converge in the middle. Those who are involved in an accident of this type will seek legal representation if injuries or fatalities occur. In some, it is an effort to try and avoid fault. In others, it is to claim the financial means to pay for their medical costs, wages that were lost, and pain and suffering. An experienced Sacramento personal injury lawyer can help uphold an injured person’s rights and assist them in obtaining the compensation they deserve.
How Our Law Firm Investigates an Accident
When a negligent driver causes your injuries, we can help. We send out our investigators to the crash site as soon as possible to collect the evidence needed to support your claim for compensation. Among the areas where they search for evidence are:
- Taking witness statements and checking the police report for mistakes
- Conducting accident reconstruction
- Searching for film footage from traffic surveillance and business cameras
- Checking for signs of government negligence such as a malfunctioning traffic light
Once the evidence has been gathered, our lawyers use it to build a strong case for compensation for our client. It is used in negotiations on the client’s behalf with the insurer or preparing a case to present in court.
