Highway 99 Big Rig Crash
Highway 99 Big Rig Crash
I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove truck accident lawyer. A big rig overturned along southbound Highway 99 near Galt over the weekend. The accident happened during rain and wet road conditions in the vicinity of the Arno Road exit. The big rig crash prompted lanes from Dillard Avenue to Arno Road to be completely shut down while rescue personnel and hazmat crews worked to help victims and also clean up the mess created by this frightening trucking accident.
What Caused the Big Rig to Crash?
Officer Bradley from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) told CBS News that the big rig began to hydroplane and struck the center divider which caused it to flip over and drag some 150 feet along the guardrail. In the process, the big rig lost much of its fuel and cargo.
It will take a week or two for investigators to determine the exact cause of the big rig crash.
It is very important to contact experienced trucking accident lawyers if your vehicle was involved in a crash with a large commercial truck and you suffered an injury. Trucking accident lawyers investigate the sequence of events leading up to the crash and hold those accountable for any negligence that caused and/or contributed to your injuries.
Were Any Other Vehicles Involved in the Crash?
Yes. Another big rig happened to be traveling through the same stretch of highway. He saw the accident as it occured and was able to come to a stop. Unfortunately, he was not able to manuever his rig around the overturned big rig.
One car swerved around the big rig crash but ended up crashing into a nearby ditch. A second car collided into the rear of the overturned big rig. A third and final vehicle crashed into the front section of the overturned big rig. The driver of the third vehicle turned out to be a drunk driver. The DUI driver was arrested by authorities.
