Hit-and-Run Accidents in California

As defined in California Vehicle Code 20001, any driver who is involved in an accident that results in injury or death to another party may face a charge of felony hit-and-run if that person departs from the scene of the collision. This law applies whether the person was or was not found at fault in the accident. According to California Vehicle Code 20003, motorists must exchange necessary information to provide authorities when injury or death to another party is involved. Any person involved in an accident must render aid to anyone who may have suffered injuries in the accident, whether it is contacting 911 to request assistance or transporting that person to a hospital for medication attention. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties. Contact an experienced Stockton personal injury lawyer for more information.
