Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident Near Stockton
A disabled Veteran was riding his bicycle in Stockton on November 21, 2017. Sadly, this would be the last ride the veteran would take due to an unforeseen hit-and-run accident.
What Happened?
David Allen Wright, a 58-year-old Stockton man, was riding his bicycle along Hammer Lane near Lan Ark Drive shortly after 6:00 pm. The man was on his way to deliver fruit to his wife, who was recovering from surgery she had recently. The man was traveling southbound to cross the street when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of that vehicle allegedly fled the scene following the collision, leaving the victim to suffer and succumb to his injuries. We cannot imagine how anyone could be so insensitive to another human being.
We would like to send our condolences to the loved ones of Mr. Wright, who passed away in this senseless tragedy.

Bicycle Accident Statistics
Accidents involving bicyclists occur more often than we think. In fact, a 2015 report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that 818 bicyclists were fatally injured in collisions with motor vehicles. These fatalities accounted for less than two percent of all traffic fatalities in the United States. Sharing the road with bicyclists is essential as they cannot protect themselves against a motor vehicle. Always look both ways before proceeding and avoid negligent driving habits such as texting and driving or drinking and driving to ensure the safety of yourself and your loved ones.
Loved One Forever Remembered
David Wright was a beloved member of his family. He leaves a family who will forever miss him for his kind, gentle, loving soul. A GoFundMe account has been set up by Wright’s family members. They are hopeful to raise enough money to at least cover the expenses of his untimely passing.
