According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run collision on Tozer Street occurred on September 4, 2023. The crash occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of Avenue 15 and Tozer Street in Madera, officials said.

A preliminary release indicated that a sheriff’s deputy, who was off duty at the time of the incident, found a man, age 66, lying in the roadway. The man was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. CHP traffic officers reported that the incident is currently under investigation as a felony hit-and-run.
