Accident at Northgate Boulevard and Tandy Drive Leaves Motorist Injured
A hit-and-run driver injured a motorist in Sacramento on August 27 at a local intersection. The collision occurred around 4:16 in the afternoon at Northgate Boulevard and Tandy Drive and involved a Ford F-150 pickup and another unnamed vehicle. Traffic was blocked by the incident, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The pickup was severely damaged, and a tow truck was required to remove it. Information on injuries to the driver was not released. The accident is being investigated by the CHP to determine how the intersection accident occurred and to locate the fleeing driver, who may face felony charges of hit-and-run.
Intersection Accidents
Because an intersection is always busy with traffic coming up and passing through in different directions, accidents are common. It is estimated that around 40 percent of all crashes occur at an intersection. A negligent driver causes almost all of these accidents. Some of the reasons are:
- The driver runs a red light or stop sign.
- The motorist is distracted by talking with a passenger or texting.
- A drunk or drugged driver is behind the wheel.
- Fatigue from working odd hours or a medical problem can make the driver less attentive.
- The driver makes an illegal or dangerous maneuver.
Locating a Hit-and-Run Driver
My office has located a hit-and-run driver in many cases. By working with local authorities and conducting our investigation, it may be possible. Because I believe that no one who is injured due to another person’s fault or entity should bear the financial burden, I work hard to find the guilty person.
When a Fleeing Driver Cannot Be Found
Unfortunately, a driver who flees from an accident cannot always be located. However, there is another way an injured person can collect compensation to pay their financial losses. This is through the use of uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. This coverage is offered to all drivers as an add on to their standard policy. Due to the high percentage of uninsured/underinsured drivers in the area, many people have opted to take this coverage. The way it works is that the injured person can use their own uninsured driver policy to cover their expenses. If the driver does not carry an uninsured/underinsured policy, they can use the insurance belonging to another household member. Using this add-on coverage does not increase the premium.
Accident Investigations
A negligent driver can leave an innocent person seriously injured and facing high medical costs, lost pay, and suffering from pain. I’m here to help. Our investigators have a lot of experience in gathering the evidence needed to support your accident injury claim. They comb the area to gather what is needed on your behalf, including:
- The area of the crash, such as an intersection, is examined for signs of government neglect. This can include potholes, a malfunctioning traffic signal, or branches that overhang a stop sign or obscure the view.
- Witnesses to the crash are interviewed, and the police report is examined for mistakes.
- The investigators perform accident reconstruction, which shows how the intersection collision occurred and may show fault.
- Footage from nearby traffic or road surveillance cameras is sought. Since many intersections are equipped with surveillance cameras, it can be an excellent source to prove the client’s claim.
