Hit-and-Run Driver on Stockton Boulevard Leaves Pedestrian Seriously Injured

A serious pedestrian injury occurred in Sacramento on June 16, after the adult subject was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. A news release by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported that they received a call shortly before 1:00 in the afternoon about the accident. It occurred on Stockton Boulevard between 65th Street and Florin Road, where a Wells Fargo and Walmart Supercenter are located.

Deputies Discover Injured Pedestrian

When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered an injured adult pedestrian. Paramedics with the Sacramento Metro Fire District arrived at the scene moments later. They took the pedestrian to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Authorities Seek Information About Driver in Pedestrian Injury Accident

Investigators with the Detectives and Crime Scene unit arrived to gather evidence and interview witnesses to the accident. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office are requesting that anyone possessing information about this accident contact them at the Communications Center at (916) 874-5115 or (916) 874-TIPS. The investigation is ongoing as the Sheriff’s Office works toward identifying the hit-and-run driver.

Locating a Hit-and-Run Driver

Following a pedestrian injury accident, it is necessary to investigate to not only locate the hit-and-run driver but to gather evidence to support a client’s claim for compensation. We’ve been successful in many cases in locating the fleeing driver because we believe it’s hard enough for someone to suffer an injury caused by another’s negligence. They should not also be financially responsible for their medical bills, lost wages and should be able to recover damages for their pain and suffering. If the driver cannot be located, we can help the injured pedestrian obtain compensation through their uninsured/underinsured insurance coverage.

Investigating the Pedestrian Injury Accident

Our investigative team immediately heads to the pedestrian injury accident site to gather the evidence before traffic restarts, which can cover up or eliminate clues as to the identity of the fleeing driver. While conducting the investigation, the following areas are searched for evidence:

  • Our investigation team works with local authorities to discover the identity of the driver who caused the pedestrian injury accident.
  • The police report is examined for mistakes because it might affect our client’s ability to claim compensation from the at-fault party.
  • The investigators perform accident reconstruction. This type of evidence shows the positioning of the vehicle and pedestrian before the accident occurred, how both progressed and the final collision. This type of evidence is widely used by the civil court and insurance company to illustrate fault in a pedestrian injury accident.
  • Statements are taken from witnesses, which can corroborate how the collision occurred. Witnesses can also provide testimony to the insurance company or in court.
  • Traffic, business and roadway surveillance cameras are examined by the investigators to determine if the collision was caught on tape.
  • The investigators take comprehensive photos of the accident scene, including tire tracks, dropped pieces of metal, and other evidence that can help identify the driver and vehicle.

Once the investigators have gathered all the evidence, it is given over to our injury attorneys. They use this evidence to construct a case that strongly supports our client’s claim for compensation.
