Woman Injured in Hit-and-Run in Maxwell on San Francisco Street

A hit-and-run in Maxwell on August 3 injured a mother in an accident that occurred northwest of Colusa. The collision happened around 3:14 p.m. on northbound San Francisco and Vine streets between a pickup and another vehicle. The California Highway Patrol (CHP), reported that a person involved in the collision said they knew where the fleeing vehicle parked because a witness to the accident followed it.

Authorities Seek Driver in Hit-and-Run in Maxwell

Police found a white Ford F-150 with tinted windows and damage on the passenger side. Although the driver was not there, they did obtain a description of the male driver. The CHP traffic collision unit is continuing its search for the driver and is determining how the injury crash occurred.

Reasons Why Intersection Accidents Occur

Motor vehicle operators must exercise caution at all times to prevent accidents, including a hit-and-run in Maxwell. Intersections are where most traffic collisions occur because it is where motor vehicles, motorcycle riders, bicyclists, and pedestrians converge. Some common forms of negligence that may lead to accident injuries include:

  • Impaired drivers: Those who drive under the influence of alcohol can jeopardize the safety of all road users. An intoxicated driver may fail to recognize an ATV rider crossing the road, resulting in a collision.
  • Distracted drivers: Engaging in activities such as talking on the phone, texting, adjusting the radio, or conversing with passengers can divert attention from the road. Just a few seconds of distraction can lead to serious accidents.
  • Fatigued drivers: Drivers often underestimate their level of fatigue. When tired, their reaction times can be just as impaired as those of a driver under the influence of alcohol.
  • Speeding: Drivers exceeding the speed limit may not have enough time to stop and avoid a collision.
  • Red light or stop sign violators: These drivers are often speeding as well, increasing the risk of injury to ATV riders.

Your Injury Lawyer Can Help You Recover the Compensation You Deserve

If you suffer injuries due to someone else’s negligence, you have the right to file a personal injury claim for compensation. This can include recovering damages for pain and suffering, medical expenses incurred from the accident, and lost wages resulting from an inability to work. If your injury is ongoing or your ability to work is affected due to your trauma, your injury lawyer can calculate future losses and include them in your settlement. Experiencing an injury is difficult enough without the added burden of financial strain, and those responsible should be held accountable for their actions.

Selecting the right personal injury attorney can be difficult; however, here are some suggestions from accident attorney Ed Smith:
