Motorist Injured on S.R. 108 in Hit-and-Run Near Sonora

Two vehicles were involved in a hit-and-run near Sonora recently. The accident happened just after 12:00 noon on westbound State Route 108 at Lime Kiln Road. Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) who went to the scene said they arrived to discover a Mazda blocking the road, which they said had been hit by an unknown vehicle.

Hit-and-Run Near Sonora Being Investigated by Authorities

A reporting person who came upon the hit-and-run near Sonora as it occurred said the fleeing vehicle was a white pickup. The reporting person took a photo of the vehicle to show police. Tuolumne County Fire Department medics arrived to determine the remaining motorist had been injured in the crash. The CHP traffic crash unit is actively investigating the cause of the accident and diligently searching for the fleeing driver.

Compensation Recovery From a Hit-and-Run Driver

Experiencing injuries in a hit-and-run near Sonora adds an extra layer of stress. Still, once the responsible party is identified, an experienced attorney actively aids in securing fair compensation for the injured person’s trauma and other damages. In cases where the offending vehicle is located, identifying the license plate can help trace the owner and determine who was driving during the incident.

Gathering Evidence to Bolster Your Claim

An attorney meticulously investigates the hit-and-run accident to locate the person who fled. This process involves gathering critical evidence such as witness statements, and surveillance footage, and getting information from body shops. Upon discovering the driver and establishing fault, the injury lawyer constructs a compelling case on behalf of the client.

Negotiation with the Insurance Company

An accident attorney defends the injured person’s rights, engaging directly with insurance companies and opposing parties to secure comprehensive compensation. If the negligent party lacks sufficient insurance coverage, the lawyer is prepared to take the matter to civil court to achieve a fair outcome.

Securing the Compensation You Deserve

Recoverable compensation is comprehensive, covering medical expenses, which include current treatment, rehabilitation, and potential future medical needs stemming from the injury. Lost wages are carefully calculated to encompass any lost current and future earnings due to the accident. Additionally, the lawyer prioritizes pain and suffering, arguing for a compensation amount that genuinely reflects the physical and emotional toll experienced by the victim.

Recovering Compensation Through Your Own Insurance

An injured person can use their uninsured/underinsured auto policy to recover compensation if the fleeing driver cannot be located. If they do not have this policy but another member of the family does, theirs can be used. The rates do not change.
