Holiday DUI Checkpoints

I’m Ed Smith, a Fairfield auto accident attorney. Fair warning if your driving through Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville and Dixon this holiday weekend.

The California Highway Patrol will be on the look out for motorists driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. With Memorial Day weekend upon us, let’s be prepared to utilize our designated drivers to help keep our roads safe for all this holiday weekend.

Undisclosed Locations

DUI checkpoints are known to pop up at undisclosed areas throughout Northern California.

The California Highway Patrol recently conducted a Driver License Checkpoint/Sobriety Stop in Fairfield this past Saturday, May 21, 2016.

The CHP stopped multiple vehicles proceeding through the checkpoint and drivers who appeared to be  under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol were detained, given field sobriety tests and eventually arrested.

Unlicensed Motorists Beware

That’s not all, motorists without a valid driver license received a citation. Some may even have had their cars impounded.

Buckle Up and Don’t Drive Distracted

The CHP will continue to enforce California’s seat belt law by making sure motorists and their occupants are buckled up. This includes children properly restrained in car seats.

Additionally, the CHP will continue to monitor our highways for motorists who drive distracted or exceed the posted speed limits.
